Predator (US-FL)

Ok here's another killer metal band this time from Florida with 2 private metal cds until now. If you forget the crappy name & stay concentrated into their music you will reveal another one qualitative metal band. Their first effort was in 2008 & that comes in a special package along with a dvd. The dvd includes the Closet-Anti Christ video (Slayer-ish song!). My favorite cd song is the "Die Unborn", an all-time classic! It reminds me the early speed metal years of many legendary bands of the 80's. The production is ok for an indie but it's a little bit dull (?) imho. The vocals are strong & straight ahead.

Bottom line is that the s/t cd by those Floridians varies from power metal to even speed/thrash as there are quite a few thrashy passages. A must have purchase for the 90's US Power metal fan!

3 years after the debut, the band came back with a second killer cd! It's called "Born In Blood" (no fantasy at all...) & it's available since July. I think the vocals on that one are more high-pitched like (hell yeah!!!) ! There are speed/thrash elements on that one too (a few Slayer touches imho) but it's overall a US Power metal cd. Support the honest US metal bands simply buying their stuff to help them keep on playing that kind of metal in these days of madness!

TENGWAR (US-VA)

As I had some free time today I decided to give a shout about an honest underground metal band from Virginia. The band is called Tengwar & it's still active. I am listening to their 2003 demo-cd right now. The production lacks but it's an 8 years effort... Favorite song is rather the "Dark Days & Alleyways".

3 years later in 2006 we have the full-length release by the band called "Flight Of The Dragon". A more professional effort definitely, still an industrial cd-r (not silverpressed) but with a real full-color booklet & backcover this time. 13 songs of honest straight ahead old school US metal.

The band is still looking for a label but in these days of crappy "core" it's almost impossible for a US metal band to make it bigger.
